The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu has just released the KCPE results 2023 and here is all you need to know about the results. A total number of 1.4 million candidates sat for the exams in all the 28, 000 examination centers. The top candidate scored 428 Marks out of the possible 500 Marks.

In his speech, the CS emphasized that no student will be allowed to repeat as it has been in the case in the previous years. The 9354 students who did not get a chance to sit for the exams will be offered with a special examination January 2024 to complete the 8.4.4 system which has been on for 34 years!

Counties which registered a high number of female candidates than male candidates include: Mandera, Garisa, Turkana, Wajir, Machakos, Nyamira, Samburu, Baringo, Nandi, Makueni and Isiolo counties. In these counties, the number of female candidates was 10% more than the male candidates.

Counties which registered candidates in the age gap of 12 years and below include the following: Baringo, Wajir, Bomet and West Pokot county. The highest number of candidates lies in the age gap of 13- 15 years. Counties which registered candidates age 18 years and above were Garisa, Turkana, Kwale, Kilifi and Mandera county.

Overall Performance

On overall performance;

i) Candidates who scored 400-500 Marks were 80,523( 0.60%)

ii) Candidates who scored 300-399 Marks were 352,782( 24.92%)

iii) Candidates who scored 200-299 Marks were 658, 278 (48.49 %)

iv) Candidates who scored 100-199 Marks were 382,025(27.05%)

v) Candidates who scored 011- 099 Marks were 2060(0.15%)
