Declan Rice was named to captain England in today’s game when England will be playing against Belgium national team. During the press conference, Rice said it all about the feeling of captaining the England national team for the first time. The national team captain, Harry Kane is not among the players at the St Georges Park due to an injury and he was left with his club Bayern Munich to continue with his rehabilitation.
During the press conference, Declan said it all that he was lost of words. Stating clearly how playing for the national team is such a privilege and he can’t imagine coming out of Wembley Stadium, full of fans, his family and friends as the captain of the team.
Declan’s captaining England national team is a clear picture of how he has risen up, getting the trust from Garrett Southgate as well as his club coach Mikel Arteta. Rice also said he is more of a 6 than 8 but he is very happy as well when Mikel uses him as a number 8, stating how his vasatility is key to the beautiful football game.
Furthermore, he said he would try and talk to Ben White to try and see if he can return to the England national team even though stating that it’s Ben’s own decision not be included in the England national team at this time but he believes Ben is an unbelievable player and is key player for the national team as well.
